King Myeongjong
Nineteenth king of Goryeo, enthroned by the generals; his reign saw military infighting and uprisings until Choe Chung-heon deposed him
Younger brother of Uijong. He held no real power as control passed from Jeong Jung-bu to Gyeong Dae-seung and Yi Ui-min. His reign saw the revolts of Kim Bo-dang and Jo Wi-chong, the uprising of Mangi and Mangsoi at Myeonghak-so in Gongju, and the uprising of Kim Sa-mi and Hyo-sim at Unmun and Chojeon. Choe Chung-heon, who killed Yi Ui-min and seized power in 1196, presented him with ten reform proposals and deposed him the following year.
