Privacy policy

Volta (seconda-volta.com, "the site") is a history map anyone can use without signing up or logging in. The site does not directly ask for personal information such as your name or phone number. Some information is processed for visitor statistics and to run the site, as described below, together with how to opt out.

To learn which pages are read and how people find them, so that we can improve the content, the site uses Google Analytics 4 from Google LLC. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects:

• pages viewed, time spent and how you arrived (search engine, linking site, etc.)
• device type, operating system, browser, screen size and language
• approximate location (country, city) inferred from your IP address — Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses

We do not use this information to identify visitors or to personalise advertising. Statistics are kept in Google Analytics for 14 months and then deleted.

The data is stored on Google servers, including in the United States. For how Google handles it, see the Google Privacy Policy (https://policies.google.com/privacy).

Opting out does not limit your use of the site in any way.

• Delete or block cookies in your browser settings
• Use a browser or extension that blocks trackers

For convenience on your next visit, the map keeps a few settings in your browser storage (localStorage): whether to show the welcome dialog again, the period you last viewed, the detail level, playback speed and wide-map mode. These stay on your device and are never sent to the site or anywhere else. You can delete them at any time by clearing site data in your browser.

When you open a page, your browser requests content directly from the services below, which process access logs (IP address, browser details, etc.) under their own policies. The site does not receive these logs.

If you write to contact@seconda-volta.com, your address and message are used only to reply, and are deleted once they are no longer needed.

The site does not currently show advertising. If it does in future, this policy will first be updated to name the advertising providers and the cookies they use.

You may ask to access, correct or delete your information, or to stop its processing. The only information the site itself holds is contact email; statistics cannot be linked to a named person, so we cannot look up an individual's data — instead you can prevent collection as described in section 3. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 14.
