Yi Won-ik

Chief state councillor who proposed the Daedong tax reform

In 1608, at his urging, Gwanghaegun set up the Seonhyecheong and introduced the Daedong law in Gyeonggi Province first, replacing household tribute in local goods with payments in rice, cloth or coin based on landholding. He also served as Chief State Councillor under Injo.
