King Heondeok

41st king of Silla, in whose reign Kim Heon-chang rebelled at Ungcheon-ju

He came to the throne after killing his nephew King Aejang with the help of his younger brother. His reign saw repeated crop failures and famine; in 822 Kim Heon-chang, governor of Ungcheon Province, rebelled and proclaimed a state called Jangan, but royal troops put the revolt down. In 825 the king also crushed a rising by Kim Heon-chang’s son Kim Beom-mun.
