Plotted with O Gi-ho to kill the five ministers who signed the Eulsa Treaty, and in 1909 founded Daejonggyo, a religion honouring Dangun
In 1907 he formed the Jasinhoe with O Gi-ho and others to assassinate the five ministers who had signed the Eulsa Treaty, but the attempt failed and he was exiled. In 1909 he founded a religion honouring Dangun, renamed Daejonggyo the next year, which became the base of armed independence groups in Manchuria such as the Junggwangdan and the Northern Military Administration. As Japanese repression grew, he took his own life at the Samseongsa shrine on Mount Guwol in 1916.
