It carried government news and reports on world affairs to promote the reforms. It stopped when the office burned in the Gapsin Coup and returned in 1886 as the weekly Hanseong jubo in mixed Korean and Chinese script. Other new institutions of these years included an arsenal (1883), a mint (1883), the post office (1884), the Gwanghyewon hospital (1885) and the Royal English School (1886).
