King Micheon

Fifteenth king of Goguryeo, who seized Xi’anping and drove out the Lelang Commandery

Fleeing persecution by King Bongsang, he lived in hiding as a hired hand and salt peddler until the chief minister Chang Jo-ri and others put him on the throne. While China was split into the Sixteen Kingdoms, he took Xi’anping in 311, expelled the Lelang Commandery in 313 and the Daifang Commandery in 314. This ended Chinese commanderies on the peninsula and gave Goguryeo the broad plains of the Taedong basin.
