King Dongmyeong (Jumong)

Founder of Goguryeo, who came south from Buyeo to Jolbon

The Gwanggaeto Stele and the Samguk sagi say he was born from an egg to Yuhwa, daughter of the river god Habaek, and the son of the Heavenly Emperor (or Haemosu). He was called Jumong because he was a fine archer. Fleeing the jealousy of the Buyeo princes, he went south and founded a state at Jolbon in 37 BCE. The Gwanggaeto Stele calls him King Chumo. His son Yuri succeeded him, and Onjo, founder of Baekje, is said to have been his son as well.
