King Onjo

Founder of Baekje, who came south from Goguryeo and settled at Wiryeseong on the Han River

According to the Samguk sagi he was a son of Jumong who went south with his elder brother Biryu after Yuri was made crown prince of Goguryeo. Biryu settled at Michuhol (Incheon) and Onjo at Hanam Wiryeseong, and after Biryu died his people are said to have joined Onjo. The country was first called Sipje and later renamed Baekje. The stone-mound tombs at Seokchon-dong in Seoul show that its founders came from Goguryeo.
