King Gyeongae

55th king of Silla, forced to kill himself when Gyeon Hwon stormed Gyeongju in 927

When Gyeon Hwon stormed Gyeongju in 927, the king is said to have been caught feasting at Poseokjeong. Gyeon Hwon set up the royal kinsman Kim Bu as King Gyeongsun and left with plunder and captives. Wang Geon, who had come in answer to the king’s call for help, met the withdrawing Later Baekje army at Gongsan and was badly beaten.
