Gung Ye Moves to Cheorwon: Majin and Taebong

Gung Ye renamed his state Majin (904), moved the capital to Cheorwon (905) and renamed it again as Taebong in 911.

As Majin (era name Mutae), the state gained a Gwangpyeong-seong and other offices and a nine-grade rank system. The capital moved to Cheorwon in 905, and in 911 the state became Taebong (era name Sudeok manse).

Styling himself the Maitreya Buddha and claiming to read minds, Gung Ye killed officials and even his queen and sons. Heavy taxes and his hostility to men from Silla lost him the people and the magnates, and his ministers overthrew him in 918.
