Final Revision of the Jeonsigwa

Munjong revised the jeonsigwa again, granting land to serving officials only, reducing the amounts and narrowing the gap between civil and military officials.

As officials multiplied and land ran short, Munjong revised the jeonsigwa in 1076. Retired officials no longer received land — only serving ones — and the area granted to each grade was reduced. Discrimination against military officials was also reduced. This final form, together with the inheritable land of officials of the fifth rank and above, underpinned the aristocratic society. It collapsed after the military coup, as the powerful amassed estates.
