Dongseong steadied Baekje after its flight to Ungjin, sealing the alliance with Silla by a royal marriage in 493 and curbing the nobility.

Late in his reign the noble Baekga, resentful at being posted to Garim Fortress, sent an assassin who wounded the king in the eleventh month of 501; he died the next month. His successor Muryeong attacked Garim and executed Baekga.
