Founded the Korean National Brigade in Hawaii to train for armed struggle; a "creation" faction leader in 1923

In Nebraska he founded the Korean Youth Military Academy to train officers for the independence army. In 1914 he organised the Korean National Army Corps in Hawaii, with its own barracks, to prepare for armed struggle. He clashed with Syngman Rhee, who favoured independence through diplomacy. At the 1923 National Representatives' Conference he was in the faction that wanted to abolish the Provisional Government and found a new one. He was assassinated in Beijing in 1928.
