Jang Ji-yeon
Editor of the Hwangseong sinmun who wrote the editorial "Today We Cry Out in Lament" against the 1905 treaty
He served as editor-in-chief and president of the Hwangseong sinmun. On 20 November 1905 he published the editorial "Today We Cry Out in Lament," condemning the ministers who had agreed to the Eulsa Treaty as worse than dogs and pigs; the paper was suspended and he was arrested. In 1906 he founded the Daehan Self-Strengthening Society to build national strength through education and industry. Articles he later wrote for the Government-General's paper Maeil sinbo have drawn charges of collaboration, and he is listed in the Dictionary of Pro-Japanese Collaborators.
