Bidam

Silla chief minister whose revolt against the queen was crushed by Kim Yu-sin

In 647, as sangdaedeung presiding over the aristocratic council, he and Yeomjong occupied Myeonghwal Fortress and rose in arms. When a great star fell on Wolseong and the royal troops took fright, Kim Yu-sin is said to have flown a burning scarecrow on a kite and spread word that the fallen star had risen again. Queen Seondeok died during the revolt and Queen Jindeok succeeded her; Bidam and thirty others were executed. The faction of Kim Chun-chu and Kim Yu-sin that crushed the revolt took power.
